Book Your Dream Flight with Flightd

Key West leaves a mark on you. Maybe it’s the soft breeze, the relaxed rhythm, or the charming pastel houses. For me, it’s the beaches and the thrill of finding affordable flights that keep pulling me back. I’ve found some amazing beach spots here.
Smathers Beach is the one you've probably heard about, and for good reason. It's the largest public beach on the island, and it's got that quintessential "beach day" energy.
Why I Keep Coming Back
This beach has a natural, easy charm. You can paddle a kayak, sip fresh coconut under swaying palms, or just stretch out with a book on the sand. It’s fun without being noisy, perfect for when you want a mix of calm and energy. The sunsets here? Unreal. Stick around in the evening and thank me later.
Fort Zachary Taylor: Snorkeling and History Combined
This one is a true Key West gem. Not only do you get a beautiful beach, but there's also a Civil War era fort you can wander through, perfect if you're into history (or need a break from the sun).
Why It Stands Out
The water here is some of the clearest I've seen in Key West. I've snorkeled with schools of bright tropical fish, and one time, I even spotted a sea turtle! The beach itself is a bit rocky, but honestly? That's part of its charm. Bring water shoes if you plan on swimming it'll make things a lot more comfortable.
Higgs Beach: Relaxed and Family Friendly
Tucked just past Smathers, Higgs Beach is my go to when I want a little more peace and a lot less crowd. It's perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to unwind.
What I Love About Higgs Beach
There’s a cozy beach café called Salute! A small playground for kids, and even an old landmark to explore. It’s a peaceful, local spot, less crowded than the busy beaches but full of charm. Grab a drink and chill under the shade of the palm trees, pure bliss.
South Beach: Small, Chill, and Surprisingly Peaceful
Despite the name, this isn't the wild party scene of Miami's South Beach. Key West's version is a tiny, laid back stretch of sand right at the end of Duval Street. And it's absolutely charming.
Why It Made My List
It’s always calm here, and I love beginning my day with a sunrise swim, then grabbing breakfast at the nearby Southernmost Café. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like you belong, even on your first visit. Sunrise tip: Seriously underrated. Bring a coffee and enjoy the quiet start to your day.
Rest Beach: Quiet Mornings and Soulful Sunrises
Rest Beach feels like a little secret even though it's not. It's a peaceful spot known more for yoga sessions and quiet strolls than for sunbathing or swimming.
My Favorite Way to Enjoy It
I like to bring my journal or simply sit and watch the sunrise and paint the sky. It’s a quiet, peaceful start before Key West gets busy. The nearby White Street Pier is also great for a slow walk or just watching people pass by. Bonus tip: You might catch a free sunrise yoga class on the beach. It's the perfect reset.
Final Thoughts: Salt in Your Hair, Sunshine in Your Soul
Key West is more than a place; it’s a vibe. Its beaches show it best. Snorkel at Fort Zachary, sip at Higgs, or watch the sunrise at Rest Beach. I’m always checking Flightd to go back. The sun and sand here stay with you. Got a favorite beach? Let me know I’m always chasing the next paradise.
